All eyes will be riveted on the biggest movie event of the year, the 81st Academy Awards on February 22 (Feb. 23 in Manila). 

People will witness the celebration together with prominent film industry leaders, distinguished cineastes, and legendary actors and actresses who have bagged worldwide recognition in previous awards.

ABS-CBN, Velvet Skycable channel 53, and Studio 23 bring the complete coverage of the major film event at the Kodak Theater at Hollywood & Highland Center. It guarantees to give every detail on favorite celebrities, their designer garbs, jewelry, and their best red carpet accessory – their dates!

Australia star Hugh Jackman will host this year’s Oscars.

The Red Carpet, which is the most-awaited part of the event, reveals the actors' and actresses’ wares – who’s-wearing-who, who grabs the Best-Dressed and Worst-Dressed awards, and which fearless celebrity makes a strong fashion statement. 
 
The Academy Awards also hold some of the most memorable moments when it comes to the winners' victory speeches. It could either be a very humorous or a touching one, but all of them would seem significant.
 
Vying for the much coveted Best Picture award is a peculiar film about a man born old who grows younger as time passes, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It leads the pack with the most number of nominations followed by relatively unknown Indian film, Slumdog Millionaire, which narrates a story of a man who stands to become a millionaire but has to face the consequences along with it.

Other contenders for the Best Picture award are Milk, a film about a gay camera store owner who decides to run for office, Frost/Nixon, a story about how former President Richard Nixon's and journalist David Frost's lives intertwine, and The Reader, a drama about a law student and his former lover who served as a guard in an Auschwitz concentration camp.
 
Tune in to Velvet Skycable channel 53 to catch the complete coverage of this major film event on Monday, February 23, starting with a live telecast from 7 am with the main awarding ceremony at 9:30 am. 

There will also be a live telecast at ABS-CBN TV 2 on the same day at 9:45 am.

To give more Oscar fans the chance to catch the show, a primetime encore telecast on Velvet on the same day at 6 pm, and a replay of the complete coverage on February 28, Saturday from 3:30 pm onwards have been scheduled.

Studio 23, on the other hand, will carry the show on Tuesday, February 24 at 7 pm.
