MANILA, Philippines - Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao attended the launch of Nike's newest technology in New York on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) together with sprinter Allyson Felix and Super Bowl champion Victor Cruz.

Pacquiao, an endorser of Nike, is currently in the United States to promote his upcoming fight with Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas this June.

He is one of the athletes featured in Nike+ Training, which features a set of workouts aimed at helping users get fitter, faster and stronger.

Rafael Nadal and Hope Solo were also tapped for the new technology, which comes in the form of a sensor built into Nike footwear. It collects information about the user's movement and transmits data to mobile phones.

"Nike+ allows us to connect the physical world of sport with the social elements of digital to create a better sport experience for every athlete," Nike president and chief executive officer Mark Parker said during the launch.

Nike+ Basketball, on the other hand, seeks to track a player's movement during the game and deliver back information to the user, giving them a basis from which to improve.

The first Nike+ Basketball-enabled basketball shoe is the Hyperdunk+, which will be worn by NBA star LeBron James this summer.

"Giving player access to this level of information will have a huge impact on the way players train and play the game," said James, who is also an endorser for the sports apparel brand.

The Lunar Hyper Workout+ for women and Lunar TR 1+ for men, meanwhile, will be the first shoes to have the Nike+ Training technology.
