Binay: Love your brown skin
MANILA, Philippines - Be proud of your brown complexion and love it, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay said Friday.
Binay, running mate of former President Joseph Estrada, made the call to Filipinos amid a recent recall of China-made whitening products that contain toxic substances.
He said Filipinos must appreciate their God-given brown complexion.
“We are brown and we should be proud. I call them Kasins, short for Kasin-itim,” Binay said.
Before leaving for Singapore to attend the three-day Asia Pacific Boy Scouts meeting of which he is the chairman, Binay said beauty-product firms are distorting the concept of beauty by pushing the use of whitening and other cosmetic products.
“Cosmetic firms have been selling their products by subliminally promoting distaste for our natural brown complexion. Unfortunately, those who cannot afford the cost of high-end products contented themselves with inferior substitutes, which contain toxic substances,” Binay said.
He said while Caucasians crowd the country’s beaches to get a good tan, some Filipinos have succumbed to the lure of whitening products and want to have lighter skin.
“It is not color that divides us but poverty and hunger. The idea of being peddled is that we are not beautiful just because we are not fair-skinned. That is not true,” Binay said.
He said lightening one’s complexion is a personal choice, and he respects the rights of Filipinos to freedom of choice. – Jose Rodel Clapano, Philippine Star
Love your yourself!
Don't let the media teach you that being pale is attractive, its wrong.
I get so tired of seeing white/pale models in the philippines. So many beautiful tan and brown women that are being overlooked.
Only a small percentage of women in the Philippines are naturally pale, so why like it? Its not attractive to be white like a sheet of paper
Love yourself! and your skin color, be proud of who you are.
BIGNAY..FOCUS ON ECONOMY PLEASE
WALA SYANG MAISIP NA IBANG GIMMICK. YAN TULOY NAPAGDISKITAHAN ANG KANYANG KULAY. BUTI NGA WALANG NAKAKAKITA SA KANYA...NGAYON TULOY NAKITA SYA. ISA PA ITONG GALAMOK ANG UTAK. DYAN KA NA LANG SA MAKATI...WAG NG MAG INTERES SA BUONG PILIPINAS.
Racial discrimination still exists
“It is not color that divides us but poverty and hunger. The idea of being peddled is that we are not beautiful just because we are not fair-skinned. That is not true,” Binay said.
It is not only true but it is also a fact for your information Mr. Binay. Even in America, skin color still sets the tone on how white people will deal with you but, they do try to be civilized about it because of lawsuits for racial discrimination. Most African-Americans and even the Hispanics have their houses placed in their own "territory", separate from the white people because they see them as "different" and "weird". I have never seen any lead actresses or actors in an action, drama or any serious films in the Philippine movies which have really brown complexion, like yours Binay, except in a comedy or cheap/corny movies kung saan may batukan o pinagkakatuwaang tao. Sometimes the truth hurts!
I Love my Olive Brown Skin
I love my olive brown skin "Morena" they call me when I was a teenager. I have a look of a "turko or india" from Turkey and India. When I was a teenager, I wasn't the popular lad but when I moved to the USA I was the center of admiration and attention from the people around me even Filipinos here admired my beauty. I get lighter skin here because of the winter but I remain my smooth brown skin and still darker than the rest. I get hit on all the time when I go clubbing and my husband is so proud he married me. My children are half american and half my beauty. My daughter got lighter brown skin but the face of her father. My son is the same. They are beautiful children regardless of their appearance and proud to be molato or half half. They love their skin and are grateful to be a mutt.
We should all love our appearance and thank God that he did not break the mold when he made us (We are not the people with disabilities). Think about your situation as if you are blind, or crippled and can't walk right now. I bet, you will not trade yours and you will be proud and thankful that you are a complete human being besides the color of your brown skin.
LOVE YOUR SKIN AND BE GRATEFUL TO HAVE ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SKIN THAT MILLIONS ENVIED.
P.S.
There's a saying " Once you go out with brown, you will never turn around".....yep...yep....yep... so true indeed!
Politics of Skin Color?
"People Power" again? Nope, "Mob Rule".
Its plane & simple & the
Its plane & simple & the nature of human being. It is not that they like your color.
Brown skin is beautiful
When i was growing up in the Philippines, i used to be ashamed of my dark colored brown skin...People called me "negra" and pretty much hurt how the people make fun of me...But now everything changed...In Canada they love my color and they pay big bucks just to get brown color skin or tan..People in Canada they go to tropical countries and spend lot of money just to get tan..So, what I am trying to say is Filipinos love your brown color skin.....Stop using any cosmetics things just to get a whiter skin..In Canada they truly admired and jealous of my skin..
