MANILA, Philippines – Fans of Izakaya Sake Bar in Makati City were surprised after the hip hangout announced that it will hold a closing party on Thursday.

Dubbed “Arigato,” the Japanese word for “thank you,” the party will feature some of Izakaya’s top DJs: Alex Wong, Jason Go, Allan Corpus and Tony Panlilio, and live music vocals from Guji Lorenzana, Janjay Coquilla and Sha Supangan.

The event, which will start at 9 p.m., will be hosted by Sha Supangan, Erica Mendoza and Jec Cantillon.

"It's time to say goodbye, look back and party it up one last time as we close one of Manila's hottest night spots!" Izakaya said on its Facebook page on Thursday.

Izakaya opened in January 2009, taking over the spot formerly occupied by Temple Bar in Greenbelt 2 and is known for its collection of sake and unique sake mixers like Lemon Grass Sake, Cucumber Lychee, Watermelon Mint, Sangria Sake and its signature drink, the Izakaya Martini.

According to its Facebook page, it is owned by nightlife staples, Marco De Guzman, Raj Sadhwani of Distillery, Ivan Zalameda of Global One, DJ Manolet Dario, Erik Cua and GP Reyes of Encore/Member's Only.
