MANILA, Philippines -- American Eagle Outfitters has opened its first store in the Philippines.

Brought to the country by Suyen Corp., the company behind the popular apparel brand Bench, American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) launched its first store in Taguig City in a big way on Thursday night.

Hosted by half-Filipina "Pretty Little Liars" actress Shay Mitchell and TV personality Raymond Gutierrez, the AEO fashion show had a number of celebrity models donning the extensive denim collection of the American brand.

Seen walking the runway were Dominique Cojuangco, daughter of actress Gretchen Barretto; Juliana Gomez, daughter of celebrity couple Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres; and Juliana Barretto, daughter of comedian Dennis Padilla with actress Marjorie Barretto.

Both Gretchen and Marjorie were seen at the event, along with other celebrities including Kris Aquino and Zsa Zsa Padilla.

Harry Thomas, US Ambassador to the Philippines, was also at the opening festivities to express support for the American brand's presence in the country.

Founded in 1977, AEO is an American clothing and accessories retailer based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The brand targets 15- to 25-year-old males and females.

American Eagle first opened outside the United States with a store in Canada in 2000. Today, it has stores in the Middle East, as well as Russia, Poland, China and Hong Kong.

Over the years, Suyen has brought several foreign brands to the country such as La Senza, Aldo, Charles and Keith and The Face Shop.

Filipino fashionistas can now visit the first local American Eagle Outfitters store at Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
