Karen Davila finds cure for her hoarse voice
MANILA, Philippines – If you watch or listen to Karen Davila on television and radio regularly, you may already be familiar with her distinct raspy voice.
But did you ever wonder why her voice is sometimes hoarse?
During her radio show “Pasada 630” on Tuesday, Davila, speaking in a clear voice, shared that severe acid reflux was causing it.
The multi-awarded broadcast journalist said she was informed by her doctor from The Medical City that one possible cause of acid reflux is her lack of daily water intake.
She said her acid reflux may also be due to too much coffee.
“Na-detect niya ang matindi kong acid reflux, yung kapag kumakain ka, yung asido umaakyat. Matagalan daw ito. Ang nakapagpapalala pala sa acid reflux, kulang sa tubig kaya ngayon, mga tatlong litro na ako isang araw, at madalas [kasi] ako magkape,” she said.
Davila's hoarse voice has been spoofed by comedienne Angelica Panganiban on the ABS-CBN gag show, "Banana Nite."
In a recent episode, Panganiban appears as "Karen Lavida-Loca" in "Isang Kandila," a spoof of ABS-CBN's late-night newscast "Bandila."
