Bets are on for Pacquiao vs Clottey
MANILA, Philippines - Many Filipinos believe it'll be Manny Pacquiao's hands which will be raised after he takes on challenger Joshua Clottey on Sunday in Dallas, Texas.
Jose Gatcho, a resident of Cubao in Quezon City, has no doubt his bet will win. "Syempre Pacquiao kasi Pilipino ako at talagang magaling siya," he says.
But his friend, Boy Rapada, is unimpressed with Pacquiao and is rooting for the taller, heavier Ghanaian.
"Kung ako nga boksingero, lalabanan ko si Pacquiao!" says Rapada.
They say their betting game would be as exciting as the fight itself.
Whoever loses will have to shoulder their next drinking spree.
Problem is, they still don't know where to watch the fight.
That's not a problem though for residents of barangay Don Manuel.
As in Pacquiao's previous fights, hundreds of residents will gather at this eatery of the Lam family.
They'll be watching the fight for free via satellite!
"Exciting yung eksena dito, masyadong masaya, pati bubong nasisira kasi naglalambitin sila!" says Irene Lam.
Soldiers will also get to watch the fight for free at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Wellness Center and the grandstand of the in Camp Aguinaldo.
For those who wish to catch the bout somewhere else, web sites offering live streaming of the Pacquiao-Clottey match are now available.
Many Filipinos say all these are proof that in any fight, they are one with the Pacman.
