It’s the time of year of sweltering summer heat, that is why resorts are a hit again these days.

If you want to beat the heat outside of Metro Manila, you will be able to go to many places in less than an hour.

Splash Island Resort in Biñan, Laguna is open once again, this time with more gimmicks for visitors.

Aside from the wave and splash waters in its swimming pools, Splash Island also has kiddie corners.

There are also various games and activities for the youngsters. Plus, there is even a tattoo corner.

While for those who want to have night parties, Splash Island has something in store for them.

On April 1, the resort is set to hold a “Boracay Night” promising non-stop music and partying all night long.

Sonny Torres, operator of Splash Island, said “We will have the party and sand of Boracay. Pero for approval pa ‘yong drinking.”

Entrance fee is P400 while children and senior citizens get a discounted rate of P325.

For visitors who will go to Splash Island in March, they will just pay P200 as only half of the resort is open this month.

Meanwhile, 30 kilometers away from Biñan, Laguna is another resort that will make visitors feel like they have travelled to a faraway island.

Situated in Calamba, Laguna, the Wonder Island Resort is in an island within Laguna Lake. One can marvel at Mt. Makiling from the resort grounds.

Tourists will have to ride a banca first to get to Wonder Island Resort, said to be the perfect place for those who want to forget the pollution and hustle and bustle in Metro Manila.

Michelle Chavez, a visitor at the resort, said, “Tahimik dito hindi katulad sa ibang lugar na maraming tao kaya makakapag-relax ka talaga.”

“First time ko dito… maganda pang buong pamilya,” added another vistor, Raquel Blanco.

Wonder Island Resort also has a sauna and Jacuzzi. The water in its swimming pool is believed to be therapeutic as it can heal illnesses like arthritis, because the water comes from 1,000 feet below the ground.—with a report from Cecille Lardizabal, ABS-CBN News
