MANILA, Philippines – Hollywood actor Liam Hemsworth left a number of his Filipinos fans swooning after he appeared at an intimate meet-and-greet on Friday.

Hemsworth, who is popularly known as Gale Hawthorne in the movie “The Hunger Games,” is currently in the country to be an ambassador of local clothing line Bench.

During the event held at the Peninsula Manila Hotel in Makati City, Hemsworth expressed his excitement to be in the Philippines for the first time.

“Thank you very much for having me. I certainly love being here,” he said.

Saying he has only heard of good things about the country, Hemsworth said he definitely plans to come back and visit the country's tourist spots.

“I've heard so much about the country so I love being here. I love climbing mountains. I also heard the beaches here are beautiful. I will definitely come back to see them,” he said.

The 23-year old Australian actor also said he is glad to be part of the Bench family because its clothes fit his personal style.

“Fashion is not really something I know so much about. I'm a jeans, flipflops kind of guy. I'm pretty simple and pretty casual and Bench stuff are simple and casual. I love its different looks,” he said.

Hemsworth said he did not hesistate to come to the Philippines for Bench because he loves to travel and he likes the clothing line's whole fashion idea.

On Jennifer Lawrence and 'Hunger Games'

The actor also shared how it was working with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games.”

“I'm finished shooting [for Catching Fire]. Working with Jennifer Lawrence was really fun. She's really amazing. She's probably the most energetic, fun-loving person I've ever met. Working with her is really easy,” he said.

“Catching Fire” is the sequel of “The Hunger Games,” which is slated to be released later this year.

Hemsworth said he's already excited for his fans to see his character Gale in action.

It was Hemsworth's first public appearance since his reported break up with Hollywood singer-actress fiancé Miley Cyrus.

While many were interested to know if rumors are true that Hemsworth and Cyrus have indeed broken up, the actor's management were strict in implementing a “no-personal-questions” rule during the press conference.

Aside from the meet-and-greet, Hemsworth also made rounds at various malls in Manila before heading back to Los Angeles Saturday.
