Party place URBN serves top steaks
MANILA, Philippines -- Partying urbanites have found a new home in the hip happening place, Urbn Bar & Kitchen. And while the restaurant transforms into party central after 10 p.m.,it is, for most of the day, one of the best places to get steak, as we pleasantly found out.
Dry-aged bone-in rib-eye steaks cooked to perfection, to be specific. This off menu item was the star of the food tasting dinner prepared by Chef BenjoTuason in his restaurant last Wednesday.

Cooked medium rare, the steak came to our table in its full glistening glory. The meat was succulent, tender and melt-in-the-mouth flavorful as only dry-aged beef can be, with crispy seared bits at all the right places. It was heaven at the first bite, succeeded by numerous nirvanas until the last.
Another favorite at our table was the Mac and Choreese.

Sweet chorizo added a unique twist to the comfort food classic Mac and Cheese, while still delivering essentials like a wonderful cheese gratin (which always make mac and cheese exciting to dig into), al dente macaroni and chewy mozzarella.
The Double Baked Manchego Soufflé was also very interesting — a soufflé turned over, baked again, topped with cheese and crispy Jamon Serrano.

With the twice-baked soufflé getting a crust, the soft soufflé center, the velvety cream sauce and crispy Spanish ham, one got a good play of texture in every mouthful. What it lacked for me was a bit of acid to balance out the punch of cheese flavor. But if you’re a fan of manchego cheese’s buttery salty kick, or cheese in general, this dish is for you.
By far the favorite dessert of the night was the Salted Caramel Cheesecake. The baked cheesecake was soft and rich, topped with smooth caramel and a sprinkle of salt crystals. While salted caramel these days might have been nudged to the background of the foodscape by the Speculoos craze, this dessert was a celebration of all that makes salted caramel good.

Befitting its name, the interiors are urban-chic with industrial lighting fixtures, wire-mesh details and extremely comfortable leather and luxurious velvet-lined seats.

Bring your date here and chances are high that she will be impressed. Order the steak, and you might just get lucky.
