MANILA, Philippines - Enjoy the outdoors this summer as the National Museum of the Philippines gives nature lovers a tour of the rainforests, rock formations and mountains of Baler in Aurora province next month.

The 4-day learning excursion, to be held from May 3 to 6, aims to highlight the natural and cultural treasures of Baler, which is said to hold one of the biggest forest covers in the country.

Here, people can listen to Baler's folktales while hiking through rainforests, marvel at rare plants and wildlife, and have on-site lectures.

The tour, priced at P6,500 per person, also includes transportation (Manila-Baler-Manila) as well as meals and snacks.

Facilitating the nature walk in Baler are experts in the fields of botany, zoology and geology, both from the National Museum and other institutions. The event is expected to be participated in by tourists, science teachers, students, environmentalists and nature officers.

The National Museum earlier held nature walks at Prieto-Diaz in Sorsogon last year and at Mt. Banahaw along the boundary of Laguna and Quezon provinces.
