This year, the Province of Iloilo commemorated its 108th Founding Anniversary with a week-long myriad of celebrations and festivals called the "Semana sang Iloilo" or week of Iloilo.

The week-long festivity was held from April 13 to 17. It was kicked off by a mass that was held at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas, Sr. spearheaded the grand opening of various kiosks displaying ornamental plants.

Several projects were also launched including a day-care center for children of government employees as well as a ceremonial program for the "Garantisadong Pambata" campaign (or Guaranteed for Kids campaign) advocating children's health. Dog shows and other activities were also held during the week.

The celebration sought to highlight the rich culture of Iloilo as well as the variety of local products from different towns in the province.

The Parade of Festivals was one of the much-awaited activities of "Semana sang Iloilo," where performing groups depict several festivals in Iloilo like the Kasag Festival of Banate, which means "crab", a local delicacy; the Kahilwayan Festival of Sta. Barabara, which dramatizes the fight for independence and liberty of locals from Spanish rule, and the Pintados de Pasi of Passi City where participating tribes are marked with tattoos.
