MANILA, Philippines – Who’s the richest superhero in 2012?
If you guessed Iron Man’s Tony Stark, you are correct, at least according to Forbes Magazine’s top 15 richest fictional characters.
Forbes magazine said Stark, played by actor Robert Downey Jr. in the Iron Man movies, has an estimated net worth of $9.3 billion earned through military defense contracts. He placed 5th in the Forbes list.
Forbes said Stark, who once bragged about “privatizing world peace”, is under fire from consumer advocate Ralph Nader over Stark Industry’s Resilient line of repulsor-powered cars. Nader said the cars are “unsafe at any speed.”
“New projects include biomimetic Extremis armor and nuclear-powered wine refrigerators. Stark also spending time with new, ultra-elite social club; other members include Nordic prince, atomic physicist, famous war hero,” the Forbes profile said.
The other superhero on the list, Batman’s Bruce Wayne, had an estimated net worth of $6.9 billion, according to Forbes. He placed 8th on the list.
It said the billionaire playboy continues to dominate tabloid headlines after he allegedly broke up Kim Kardashian’s marriage.
“Gadget blogs say he spent more than $100 million outfitting a high-tech ‘man cave’ in stately Wayne Manor. Other reports suggest a penchant for rubber costume play, association with underground fight clubs and questionable activities with teenage ‘wards,’” the Forbes profile read.
Other names on the Forbes fictional 15 list are: Flintheart Glomgold ($51.9 billion), Carlisle Cullen ($36.3 billion), Jed Clampett ($9.8 billion), Richie Rich ($8.9 billion), Charles Foster Kane ($8.3 billion), Forrest Gump ($5.7 billion), Lisbeth Salander ($2.4 billion), Mr. Monopoly ($2.5 billion), Tywin Lannister ($2.1 billion), C. Montgomery Burns ($1.3 billion), Robert Crawley ($1.1 billion) and Jo Bennet ($1.0 billion).
The richest fictional character on the Forbes Fictional 15 is Smaug the Dragon who had an estimated wealth of $62 billion. The character appeared in J.R.R. Tolkien novel The Hobbit.
