Lose weight and drop a jeans size with cereals
MANILA, Philippines - If losing weight is one of your New Year's resolutions long forgotten, here is one way to achieve that. Cereal cafe Cerealicious partnered with Kellogg's Special K to launch a fitness challenge among its customers.
Dubbed the 'Special K 2-Week Challenge', the contest dares men and women to drop a jeans size in just 2 weeks. Customers only need to replace two meals a day with Special K cereal, low-fat milk, and fruit for two weeks.

Organizers say that based on scientific studies, such a two-week challenge can help one kick-start a healthy lifestyle and get in shape. Special K cereal, after all, is a low-fat cereal made of rice and wheat containing less than 2% fat and only 165 calories per serving. But results may vary per individual as those participating in the challenge may choose what to eat for their other meal for the day, and decide what type of exercise to engage in.
Crissy Balatbat, one of the co-founders of Cerealicious, said those interested to join the challenge will have to sign up at Cerealicious cafes at Shangri-La Plaza or Robinsons Place Manila on a weekend in May or any of the first two weekends in June. They also need to purchase any of four Cerealicious Special K Blockbuster bowls and submit to weigh-in and body mass index (BMI) computation to be conducted by Kellogg's representatives.
Each customer signing up will get a free starter kit which contains a box of Special K, measuring tape, and a Kellogg's diary with tips and recipes. After two weeks, customers will have to come back for the official weigh-in.
“Highlighting the four cereal bowls with Special K this summer and launching the 2-Week Challenge in partnership with Kellogg’s Philippines is all part of our nutritious-delicious campaign. We really want to make our customers know that although some of our cereal bowls are chocolatey, we also have tasty concoctions with whole wheat cereal and fruits that are really good for their health,” Balatbat said.
Contest winners will get a free gym membership from Gold's Gym, gift certificates from Topshop, Topman, The Spa, and Cerealicious, and gift packs from Special K. Awarding will be on July 15. The contest runs from May 8 to June 30.
