MANILA – Model and beauty queen Melanie Marquez may be well-known for her unforgettable quotes, but behind the fame and glamour is also a mother of six children.

Marquez has juggled her career as a celebrity and being a mom quite well. So how did she manage to do it?

"Time management po. Kasi di naman araw-araw may trabaho ako. I have given enough time talagang nung lumalaki ang mga anak ko," she said in an interview on DZMM on Friday afternoon.

Marquez, who served as beauty coach to fellow beauty queens Ruffa Gutierrez, Charlene Gonzales and Miriam Quiambao, said it is also important to take care of one's health.

"Mahalaga pa rin 'yung health mo," she said as she attributed her youthful glow to taking good care of herself.

"Mahilig akong uminom ng maraming juices, water at kung di po ako na-aksidente, lagi po akong nag-exercise."

The accident Marquez was referring to happened last December 7 when the SUV she was driving accidentally fell into a 12-foot ravine near the Utah-Arizona border in the US.

"Recovering po ako up to now because of my severely compressed fractured spine and sternum," she said, adding that she is more careful now and takes her time for her body to heal properly.

"Inalis yung body brace ko. Pinapalakas ko lang yung muscles sa likod ko kasi sa X-Ray may fracture pa na di pa talaga fully recovered," she said.

She shared that doctors in the US were quite amazed at her fast recovery. "Yung healing process ng bones parang younger bones madaling mag recover."

Marquez, who was crowned as Miss International in 1979, is on vacation in the country. She is soon set to fly back to Utah where she operates a 200-acre ranch with her husband of 14 years, Atty. Randay Lawyer, and their family.

"Mahirap na trabaho. Di ganong kadali, physical talaga ang trabaho doon di naman nakaupo lang," she said.

Marquez said she will only stay there for about a month and then probably return to the Philippines for some workshops.
