Pacquiao clashes with Obama on same-sex marriage
MANILA, Philippines – Boxing superstar and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao does not share US President Barack Obama’s views on same-sex marriage.
In an interview with Examiner.com's Granville Ampong, Pacquiao said marriage is only for a man and a woman.
"God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, if they so are in love with each other, not of the same sex to adulterate the altar of matrimony,” he said.
Obama has declared support for same-sex marriage as he gears up for re-election in the US presidential polls in November.
But Pacquiao, who visited Obama at the White House last year, frowned at Obama’s declaration.
"God's words first," said Pacquiao, who recently renewed his faith and became active in Bible preaching.
Pacquiao is currently training in the US for his June 9 fight against Timothy Bradley.
