A 100-year-old woman recently celebrated her birthday in a grand fashion at one of the biggest hotels in Iloilo City.

Surrounded by her friends and family during the remarkable event, Regalada Paro Equillo or "Lola Regalada" was treated like a queen during her celebration at the Hotel del Rio on Thursday evening. Equillo was dressed in a beautiful Filipiniana gown which set her apart from the other guests, who all wore formal attire.

Despite her old age, Equillo was still strong and sprightly enough to be able to dance with some of her grandchildren. Friends and family honored the matriarch not only because she has lived for a century, but because she was able to raise all 5 of her children almost singlehandedly. Her husband had sadly passed away when she was 37, leaving her to support her family by doing dressmaking jobs.

At the end of the evening, Equillo said her only birthday wish is to live longer so that she can continue to enjoy the company of her 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
