To make a difference in the lives of those disabled and poor, two non-profit organizations donated wheelchairs and hearing aids to indigents from different parts of Tacloban City and the rest of Leyte province.

The groups, Assemblies of God and Operation Blessing, donated much-needed equipment to the indigents.

Assemblies of God, a Christian sect which has more than 52.5 followers worldwide, donated 50 hearing aids to its beneficiaries.

"We are so happy to help the people, especially here in Tacloban, which is our home now," said Assemblies of God Rev. Fredda Alston of the First Assembly of God Church.

Alston and her husband Mark have been conducting missions in the Philippines. Their group has reportedly been engaged in various outreach programs in Leyte for more than 5 years now.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian group Operation Blessing also donated 80 wheelchairs to Leyteños.

One of the beneficiaries was Paulita Beros, who could not walk for five years but could not purchase a wheelchair.  "I am so happy to avail this, I can't afford to buy one, so this is one of the greatest gifts I have recieved," she said in her native language.
