MANILA, Philippines -- Despite the mystery and confusion surrounding Chief Justice Renato Corona’s impeachment trial and his medical condition, netizens say they just want one thing: the truth.

“What’s the real story?” netizens are asking on social media about Corona’s medical condition. They also want to know what the Senate impeachment court plans to do.

Yesterday, Presiding Officer Juan Ponce Enrile said that if Corona will not appear at court today, they will consider his case submitted for decision, and his statements on the witness stand will be stricken off the record.

Many netizens are on the fence whether Corona is guilty or innocent, but yesterday’s so-called “shenanigans” and Corona’s medical conditions have pushed some to decide for themselves of his guilt.

Others, however, cautioned that Filipinos should not kick someone when he is down, especially as a medical condition is no laughing matter.

Even politicians have presented differing opinions on recent developments in the trial, and have many things to say about the Chief Justice’s “challenge” to legislators.

Whatever people think, however, one thing remains clear: the impeachment trial has become more entertaining for Filipinos than show business.
