How Pinay reporter got 'impossible' photo with Tom Cruise
MANILA - Here's an interesting challenge: Get a Hollywood star to take a photo with you without asking for one.
On Tuesday, ABS-CBN Europe correspondent Rose Eclarinal shared how American superstar Tom Cruise asked her to take a photo with him during a press junket, despite organizers' rules not allowing it.
"After my interview with Tom and Emily [Blunt], we had a light banter," Eclarinal said in a Facebook post recalling the surprise moment.
Cruise, who was with Blunt to promote their film "Edge of Tomorrow," recalled his visit to the Philippines.
He said that he was in Ilocos to shoot the 1989 film "Born on the Fourth of July."
Eclarinal said she told Cruise that her brother was inspired by his character in the 1986 movie "Top Gun." She shared with Cruise that her brother, who is now a pilot, used to have a poster of the film as a fixture in their house.
"What does he fly?" Cruise asked.
Eclarinal recalled saying the first thing the came to her mind -- a Bell UH-1 Iroquois, more popularly known as a Huey, when her brother actually flies an MG attack helicopter.
"He goes, 'You want a picture?'" Eclarinal narrated. "I go, 'Of course, but we are not allowed.' He says, 'I'm allowed. Guys, take our photo.' He held my hand and click!"
