Sony Ericsson launches Satio, Aino, and Yari
SINGAPORE - “Anything that you can imagine can be made real” is the vision of Sony Ericsson, said Hirokazu Ishizuka, corporate vice president, head of Asia Pacific Region of Sony Ericsson.
“Our vision in Sony Ericsson is to be the leader in communication and entertainment,” he said.
To attain this goal, Ishizuka revealed Sony Ericsson’s next phase of Communication Entertainment strategy for the Asia Pacific Region by releasing new mobile phones with advances in imaging, music, videos and gaming.
“We are fusing communication technology and entertainment,” said Ishizuka during the media launch of Sony Ericsson’s Ultimate Entertainment Adventure held at the Red Dot Museum on Wednesday.
Ishizuka said that a library of content, from the latest movies, music, videos and games, will give the ultimate user-consumer experience in Asia Pacific.
New phones
Sony Ericsson showcased its new communication entertainment brand of mobile phones that boasts of the best hardware and content that would give its consumer the ultimate entertainment adventure.
Asia Pacific consumers are given the chance to download three games, movies, music videos and latest tracks for free.
“We would like to elevate this communication entertainment to the next level. Inject all those entertainment experience in one entertainment unlimited phone,” he said.
Members of the media from the Asia Pacific Region were introduced to a showcase of Sony Ericsson’s new cellular phones—the Satio, Aino and Yari.
Satio, Aino
The top-end entertainment mobile phone Satio has a 12.1 megapixel camera, a 3.5-inch widescreen full touch display, and nHD (ninth High Definition). Satio was first introduced as “Idou” in Barcelona .
“With Satio, you can enjoy any form of entertainment anytime, anywhere. Whether its music or movies, you will never be more than a tap away from your favorite tracks or shows,” said Peter Ang, Vice President, Marketing, Asia Pacific Region at Sony Ericsson.
The Aino, on the other hand, is also dubbed as “Entertainment Set Free”. With 8.1 megapixels, photo flash and clear audio experience, plus a 3-inch screen, this phone lets users access their media content through Remote Play with PlayStation3.
“The Aino is entertainment Set Free phone and you can do PlayStation3 Remote Play and has DLNA wireless entertainment,” Ishizuka said.
Gesture gaming
Sony Ericsson’s Yari was also launched Wednesday. Called the “Fun Entertainment” phone, it features a gesture gaming technology that gives users a different feel from the standard games where you have push buttons on your cellphone.
“The Yari is Fun Entertainment with new game experience, and it will provide cross gesture gaming entertainment,” said Ishizuka.
“I think Sony Ericsson’s strong partnership with Sony United, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, and Sony Ericsson enhances the entertainment experience of consumers here in Asia Pacific,” Ishizuka said.

Meanwhile, Patrick Larraga, Sony Ericsson Philippines Marketing Manager said the new handsets will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
“We are very committed to pushing these phones in the proposition of entertainment unlimited in the country. Because this is actually one of the core strategies of Sony Ericsson--moving forward--because it showcases the strength of Sony Ericsson in the communication side, and, of course, the entertainment side,” said Larraga.
Sony Ericsson was established as a joint venture by Sony and Ericsson in October 2001.
