MANILA - FC Barcelona finds pride in the support of Miss World Megan Young, as its president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, even gave the Filipina beauty queen a Barca shirt to thank her.
Young was one of the guests at the CineEurope convention in Barcelona, where the football club was awarded the Variety Humanitarian Award "for its humanitarian efforst in the education of children," its official website said Friday.
The 24-year-old actress referred to the shirt as a "very special gift," explaining that she has been a long-time Barca fan.
"Since the last World Cup, I have made many Barça friends who make me watch games and explain things about football. It's great to learn about this fantastic team who we all now support," she said.
Young added: "I had always planned to get a Barça shirt. My friends and all Barcelona fans in the Philippines will envy me."
Aside from Young, Miss Spain 2014 Elen Ibarbia was gifted by Bartomeu with the shirt.
A photograph of the two posing with the Barca item was proudly posted by the club on its official social media sites.
