MANILA - Filipino children can now unleash their culinary creativity on the Cartoon Network Philippines website after it recently launched a new feature where kids can swap and share their own unique recipes online.

Currently, the website hosts six creatively-named recipes ranging from Mexican nacho salads ("Tally Wally Wigglers"), to ground beef and potato casseroles ("Grunty Flex-o-Beeferole"), and baked cheesy Zucchini strips ("Crumble Zu-Coin-ies").

Encouraging healthy eating, the simple recipes also come with their own nutritional information box, which can be viewed by scrolling over a special button.

The recipes are inspired by the Cartoon Network animated show "Chowder" and were reportedly whipped up by one of the show's characters, Mung Daal, who owns a catering business in the quirky town of Marzipan City. The animated show follows the cooking adventures of an aspiring chef named Chowder, as well as his friends Kimchi, Panini, Gorgonzola, Schnitzel, and Truffles, among others.

The show's creator C.H. Greenblatt said in a statement that he wanted the characters on "Chowder" to inspire children to cook with their families in the same way that he was inspired by the "magical" activity. "I hope [Chowder] inspires them to cook with their families and be creative in the kitchen, but most of all, have fun and enjoy food," he said.

Inspired by the show's imaginative culinary creations, some Filipino users have already created and shared recipes of their own using the Cartoon Network Philippines website's recipe creator. Users simply have to think up a recipe name and a short list of ingredients and instructions before submitting them for view.

As of press time, there are over 50 user-created recipes on the Cartoon Network website. A testament to the imagination of Filipino viewers, the recipes range from fictional ones (there are recipes like "Cellphone salad" and "Extreme Exploding Meat," which lists fireworks under its ingredients) and all-time favorites like adobo and toaster pizza.

Aside from recipes, the website also features online flash games like "Bookin Cookin," which tests how fast users can serve up food orders, "Rump-a-Thump," a kitchen adventure game, "Grubble Gum," a gumball-themed time trial game, and "Give Trees A Chance," which lets users plant as many fictional trees in Marzipan City as they can.

Cartoon Network is one of the leading children's channels in the Philippines, with over 60 million subscribers in the Pacific Region. Cartoon Network websites in Southeast Asia, meanwhile, reportedly attract over 3 million unique visitors monthly. Photo courtesy of Cartoon Network.
