World Cup faves of online Pinoys bared
MANILA, Philippines - Spain may have made it to the final, but Internet-using Filipinos were more interested in the losing team, Germany, since the start of the World Cup fever.
Data from Google Philippines showed that Germany is the 6th most searched World Cup team last month, while Spain only ranked in 9th place.
Portugal, helmed by its captain Cristiano Ronaldo, topped the searches but it flopped in the World Cup after being beaten by Spain.
Another popular team was Brazil, which was eliminated by the Netherlands in the quarterfinals, as well as England, which was defeated by Germany.
"As the World Cup heats up and moves into the finals, Google gives a peek on Filipino favorites in terms of countries and personalities," Google Philippines said.
Below is the full list of most searched teams in Google Philippines last month:

Top World Cup personalities
Although Spain was placed at the bottom half of Google Philippines' top searches, one of its players was the hottest topic among Internet-using Filipinos last month.
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres was Google Philippines' most searched World Cup personality for the month of June after he returns from knee surgery to play for Spain in this year's biggest sporting event.
Torres was followed by Argentina's Diego Maradona and Oliver Kahn of Germany. Also in the list is Spanish-Filipino footballer Paulino Alcantara, who was the youngest of the Barca team and scored 357 goals in 357 matches.

To aid football fans in getting the latest updates in the World Cup, Google has partnered with FIFA.com, the world's official website, in developing a range of online features.
Internet users, for one, can personalize their home page by integrating the World Cup iGoogle gadget or using themes of their favorite teams.
On top of football information with Google search and news feeds, the search engine also takes fans virtually to South Africa, the host country of this year's World Cup, with Street View images and 3-D models.
Here, Internet users can explore football stadiums where the soccer happens, including the Soccer City in Johannesburg, Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, and Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
They can also see where their favorite players have kicked the ball by exploring stadiums 360 degrees inside and out.
Google Earth, meanwhile, also aids the football craze by providing 3-D images for the cities of Rustenburg, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Johannesburg.
