Coca-Cola, McDonaldâ€™s partner for Olympics
MANILA, Philippines - The Coca-Cola Company and McDonald’s Corp. forged their partnership anew, this time to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games.
For a limited time, customers across Asia Pacific, including the Philippines, will be able to collect six different colored glasses embossed with sport pictograms of gymnastics, athletics, swimming, basketball, football and cycling.
Filipino fans will be able to collect the pink, green, blue, aqua, charcoal and purple glasses by visiting any McDonald’s store nationwide and adding P25 to any Medium Extra Value Meal.
The Coca-Cola glasses are available for dine-in, take-out, drive-thru and even through delivery, starting today, July 8.
“Soon the world will come together to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games. Our customers will be delighted by a new and exciting ‘Coca-Cola’ glass offer in 2012, another great value to be enjoyed with the purchase of your favorite meal at McDonald’s,” Andrew Hipsley, senior vice President and chief brand officer of McDonald’s Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, said in a statement.
“Together with McDonald’s, we are excited about our partnership with the London 2012 Olympic Games and look forward to the release of this series of limited edition ‘Coca-Cola’ glasses. We know consumers across Asia Pacific will enjoy the spirit of the Olympics Games and the fizz and excitement of Coca-Cola at McDonald’s,” added John Hackett, Coca-Cola Pacific’s group marketing, customer and commercial director.
Coca-Cola first sponsored the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928. McDonald’s, on the other hand, became the games’ official sponsor in 1976.
