MANILA - Teaming up with a local tour operator, the ABS-CBN Foundation (AFI) is set to launch exciting Pasig River tours come September this year.

In a few months, expect river tours from the Julo station to the Sta. Ana station heritage house, to the Binondo station, where guests can embark on a culinary walking tour, and sample all kinds of food.

The tours are in line with the AFI's "Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig" (KBPIP)  river cleanup project, which aims to clean up the polluted Pasig River in 7 years and relocate more than 200,000 settlers from the river's mouth.

AFI's managing director Gina Lopez, KBPIP project director Girlie Aragon signed a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Travel Operators Association (PHILTOA), led by its chairman Cesar Cru, to seal the deal on the river tours project.

The agreement will also make the KBPIP project the beneficiary of PHILTOA's flagship event, the Philippine Travel Mart on September 4-6 this year. The event, to be held in SM Megamall, promotes domestic and and in-bound tourism in the Philippines.

A portion of the event's ticket sales and sold packages will be donated to the Pasig river cleanup project.
