Hizon's to name dessert after Dolphy

MANILA, Philippines – Dolphy's favorite hangout in Manila is planning to name a dessert after him.

Milagros Hizon-Roasa, owner of Hizon’s Cakes and Pastries, said they plan to honor Dolphy by naming their chocolate cake “Chocolate a la mode a la Dolphy.”

Hizon-Roasa said Dolphy frequented the restaurant for many years and would always order lengua, turkey, hamburger steak or ensaymada with hot chocolate.

“Mahilig siya sa pagkain. Lalo na kung galing siya sa taping o magte-taping na siya. Madalas siya magpabalot,” she said.

Hizon-Roasa, who is the godmother of Dolphy’s son Vandolph, said she became close to the veteran actor because of his visits.

She said Dolphy always made an impact whenever he entered the restaurant.

“It’s magic. Mafe-feel mo. Biglang dadaming tao, biglang matataranta ang mga cook,” she said.

Dolphy also frequented a Chinese restaurant in Binondo, the President Grand Palace.

Its owner, Josephine Ying Ying Shiu, described Dolphy as a simple and warm man.

“Si Dolphy ay simpleng tao. Mahilig siya sa biruan. Kinakausap niya kami,” she said.

The 83-year-old Dolphy, dubbed the country's "King of Comedy," passed away last week due to multiple organ failure. He was laid to rest on Sunday in Taguig. -- Report from Apples Jalandoni, ABS-CBN News
