Angara hints about gay senators
MANILA, Philippines -- Senator Edgardo Angara on Sunday may have just outed some of his colleagues when he hinted on Sunday that there may have been gay senators in the past.
Appearing on "Gandang Gabi Vice," Angara told Vice Ganda that the host will not be the first gay senator in the history of Philippine Senate if ever he decides to run in the future.
"Pwede kang senador. Maaring hindi ikaw ang mauuna, may mga... palagay ko hindi (ikaw ang una)," Angara told Vice Ganda, who is openly gay.
But when asked to name the first gay senator, Angara refused. "Yun ang mahirap sabihin sa publiko," he explained.
Angara, who is now in his last term in the Senate, was a guest on "Gandang Gabi Vice" with his son Aurora Representative Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara.
