MANILA, Philippines – Young singers Sam Concepcion and Tippy Dos Santos have teamed up anew for a musical film, which they say will see their most “mature” portrayal yet.

After taking on the characters of Peter and Wendy, respectively, in Repertory Philippines’ stage musical “Peter Pan” last year, Concepcion and Dos Santos will play the role of teen parents in upcoming musical film “I Do Bidoo Bidoo.”

“Actually, ito ‘yung by far para po sa akin, pinaka-mature na role na ginawa ko, kasi ‘yung theme pa lang eh, nabuntis ko ‘yung girlfriend ko, teenager po kami,” he explained.

Dos Santos, who is a relative newcomer to the industry, expressed the same sentiments.

“We’ve been singing since before,” she said, referring to Concepcion. “But this is the first time na we really had to act that we were in love. It’s really different in a way na iba na po ‘yung role na pine-play namin.”

"It's my first movie and it's the boldest I've gone," dos Santos added.

The young actress, who starred in ABS-CBN's 2010 musical series "1DOL," also said she feels lucky to have been partnered with a long-time friend and colleague for her role in "I Do."

"Kilala ko po si Sam since I was ten years old, and nakita ko rin na si Sam sobrang talented niya po talaga, nakakabilib po talaga siya. On set, minsan mapapa-ano na lang ako, sobrang swerte ko talaga na nakasama ko po siya sa movie," dos Santos said of her on-screen partner.

The pregnancy of dos Santos' character in the film serves as a jumping point for the full-blown musical spectacle featuring the greatest hits of Apo Hiking Society.

"'Yung music po kasi ng Apo is for every generation," Concepcion said of the featured music in "I Do." "Even 'yung mga generation ngayon, even kami, kilala namin ‘yung mga songs ng Apo Hiking.

"Timeless kasi 'yung music nila eh, kahit anong generation, parang hindi siya naluluma, so kahit binabago mo 'yung arrangement, nandun pa rin 'yung pinaka-essence ng kanta," he added.

Also starring Eugene Domingo, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Gary Valenciano, “I Do Bidoo Bidoo” is directed by Chris Martinez under Straight Shooters Media.

It is scheduled to premiere in theaters on August 29.
