Filipinos use Facebook to vent hostage anger at Aquino
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine President Benigno Aquino's Facebook account was on Tuesday flooded with insults and criticism over the botched hostage rescue in Manila than left 8 Hong Kong tourists dead.
"You did not fail us, you are consistently clueless," wrote one critic called Vincent Cruz, a common Filipino name, on Aquino's Facebook wall.
More than 250 comments about Monday's hostage drama were posted on Aquino's wall, most of which were critical about the handling of the crisis.
Sacked policeman Rolando Mendoza hijacked a busload of Hong Kong tourists in a crazed bid to get his job back. Eight of the passengers were killed when commandos attempted to storm the bus more than 10 hours into the ordeal.
Some netizens focused on the impact the crisis, which was televised around the world, would have on the Philippines' reputation internationally.
"(T)ransmitted live via satellite show all over the world: The police so dumb and lack of skill, equipment and training etc," wrote Albert Au.
Gerald Nicomedes expressed frustration at Mendoza, Aquino and the police who admitted to making mistakes in ending the ordeal.
"MENDOZA IS CRAZY... WAVING AT THE CAMERAS. HE AND NOYNOY (Aquino's nickname) ARE BOTH RETARDS... EVEN THE POLICE ARE USELESS..."
Aquino, a 50-year-old who came to power less than three months ago, has used Internet social networking tools such as Facebook to drum up popular support to his campaign to fight corruption.
A total of 1.94 million users of the popular global networking site have clicked on the button signifying they "like" Aquino's site.
More than 16 million Filipinos use Facebook, making it the seventh-largest country user.

Ang mga pokpok lang sa Ermita at Cebu at kung saan ang nakikinabang at siyempre pati nasa CUstoms at Pulitikong swapang. 200 million isang taon ang pork barrel at sa bulsa lang napupunta plus mga under the table galing sa mga corrupt. ang masa hayun walang makain at matirhan. nagtitiis mag squat dahil ang pera para sa kanila binulsa ng mga switik. Gising na at manmanan ang mga mahikerong pulitiko at nawawala ang kaban sa isang kisap mata.

Walang sisihan, di natin sinisisi mga intsik kung bakit milyong buhay ang nasira dahil sa mga nahuhuling laboratoryo ng shabu sa Pilipinas. At sa Spratly islands swapang din mga intsik. I agree with you Happy Seeking. Maybe because, he has not experienced being a father or head of the family, which up to this time, he still shirks away from, he does not know yet how to handle a squabble between his kids. A family is the basic unit of a society where you are allowed to gain knowldge and experience in a small setting, so when you go to a bigger unit, you already have the expertise, if not the experience. He is the only male in their family, and his Mom acted as the patriarch and matriarch, so he is relegated to being a subordinate, all these years. He has not proven himself and no major, major achievements, and had not even earned enough for himself, even his youngest sister he cannot control nor make her follow him, what do we expect?

What a shame. Our nation has again gain notoriety, from our stupid and coward cops. A president who does not know how to handle a simple hostage taking. A president who is not decisive enough to solve a simple problem that could have averted a bloodbath. A president who can't be contacted by a head of state like Hong Kong. Really, what a big shame. How can Aquino solve the problems of our country, he cannot even solve a very very simple hostage taking. Kawawa talaga ang Pilipinas. Kawawa din mga OFW, especially those working in Hong Kong & China.
