MANILA, Philippines - Three days after their video was uploaded on YouTube, 4 diehard fans of Miss Universe 4th runner-up Venus Raj found themselves the newest YouTube sensation. As of Friday, their video showing them hysterically happy over Raj's inclusion in the pageant's top 15 finalists has registered 1.2 million hits already.

The video showed the four friends--Veejay Floresca, Martin Bautista, Lex Librea and Aleq Africa--waiting nervously for the hosts' announcement on who made it to the top 15.

Then when Miss Philippines was called, the four friends were shown screaming, crying, jumping, and hugging in glee. And that was not even the moment when Raj made it to the top 5 finalists.

Even British and Australian news TV featured the video clip giving the 4 friends the license to claim they have made it to international TV news.

And celebrity blogger Perez Hilton called their video "one of the best videos of the summer!" Hilton also called it "Major LOlz."

Guesting on the ABS-CBN show "Simply KC", Floresca, a fashion designer, said, "Feeling talaga namin kami ang nanalo. Nasiraan talaga kami ng bait."

"Every year ginagawa talaga namin siya [watch Miss Universe] 'dun sa house ng friend namin, si Lex," explained Bautista, also a fashion designer.

"Nasa calendar 'yon," said Floresca. "World Cup, PBA, Olympics, Manny Pacquiao talaga 'yan ng mga bading. So pag ganyan, sick leave, sarado talaga ang mga parlor."

According to Floresca, they woke up just before the video was taken. It was just a coincidence that they were all wearing white T-shirts.

"It was my idea to take the video, pero personal lang talaga 'yon," said Floresca. "After watching the video, tawa kami ng tawa, so we wanted to share it with our friends."

Bautista said everytime there's a Miss Universe contest, they would make their own list of the top 15 candidates, with 5 alternates.

The YouTube stars thanked Raj for her victory.

"Venus Raj, thank you for making us proud. We really really love you and ang ganda ganda mo talaga. 'Wag mo nang pakialaman 'yung sinasabi ng iba," said Floresca.

And Bautista added, "Thank you so much for touching our lives. And because of that, marami kaming napasaya. 'Yun ang biggest reward sa amin for uploading the video."

The funny video now has a new version, one with special effects complete with the sound of dishes breaking and the ground shaking.

'Major, major' now a major term

Meanwhile, "major major"--the term--is making major waves not just in cyber space, but in showbiz and news circles here and abroad, all thanks to Raj.

The beauty queen from Bicol used the term "major major" in her answer to a question posed to her by one of the judges in the Miss Universe 2010 pageant, actor William Baldwin. The actor asked Raj her biggest mistake was and what she did to make it right.

"You know what, sir," Raj said, "in my 22 years of existence, I can say that there's nothing major major problem that I've done in my life because I'm very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So thank you so much that I'm here. Thank you, thank you so much."

And the word "major major" caught on. (See story here).

Even international TV network ABC News did a story on Raj's reply during the question-and-answer portion. Their report showed how hard it is to answer such a question that even the anchors fumbled when asked for their own reply. (See story here).

Famous beauty queens' quips

Raj's "major major" is her major contribution to the list of famous beauty queens' well-known quips.

Melanie Marquez, who was crowned Miss International in 1979, is known for her "long legged" answer. Asked by host Eddie Mercado what part of her body she would want to change if given the chance, Marquez replied, "I like everything about me. I won't change my legs because I'm contented with my long legged."

Charlene Gonzales, the Philippines' bet to the Miss Universe 1994 contest, is credited for the witty fast answer "high tide or low tide." During the said contest, the host asked Gonzales how many islands the Philippines has, and she quipped, "High tide or low tide?"

Because of Raj, "major major" became one of the top trending topics on Twitter and hogged status updates on Facebook. Even her own fan page on Facebook was full of congratulatory remarks from fans in spite of her "major major" quip.

Marquez defended Raj and said it's not the question that was hard; the whole situation was. "Madali nga 'yung tanong na 'yon 'no. Ang nakakataranta lang 'yung circumstances.
