WATCH: UK group Blake sings 'Manila' for Pinoys
MANILA – A video of British vocal group Blake performing the OPM classic “Manila” has become viral on social media, winning new fans for the trio known for their more commercial classical-pop crossover sound.
Blake, who has performed several times in Manila, was a special guest at the recent Barrio Fiesta 2013 in London, which reportedly drew 65,000 Filipinos, according to the group’s Facebook page.
“Something special for all our Filipino friends and fans around the world! BLAKE miss Manila very very much and we know that many of you do too, so, here is a song (sung by us in Tagalog) just for you!” the group posted on its Facebook page, along with the video, on September 6.
As of writing, the video has already garnered nearly 9,000 “likes” and has been shared more than 15,000 times.
In the video, the three members of Blake – Stephen Bowman, Humphrey Berney and Oliver Baines – performed the ‘70s classic by the local band Hotdog much to the delight of the crowd – as well as online viewers.
“Nakakatuwa kapag narrnig mong kumakanta ng tagalog ang isang banyaga,” commented Elenity Dulay.
“Ang galing namn kahit slang nakanta ng maayos,” added Jobert Prellegera.
“Awesome! I've just become a fan!” said Mountain Trekkearl.
The last time Blake was in Manila, they had a Christmas concert with “The Voice of the Philippines” coach Lea Salonga in December last year.
