Sci-Fi Cafe attracts geeks, foodies
A restaurant in Quezon City has been attracting geeks and foodies alike for its vast collection of action figures, scale models, costumes and props and creatively named menu items.
Richard Chua, owner of Sci-Fi cafe, said he wanted to combine his two hobbies -- eating and collecting action figures.
But instead of experimenting with the dishes, Chua opted to get playful with the names.
"Hindi kami masyadong nag-stay away sa mga classic recipes kasi baka masira lang 'yung recipe," he said. "Ang ginawa na lang namin, we played with doon sa mga pangalan ng mga pagkain."
"One example is instead of serving just buffalo wings, pinangalanan namin siyang Vanhellswing. Insted of just saying supreme pizza, Supreme Man Pizza. Hellboyger, so parang Hellboy na burger, pinagsama rin namin," he added.
Sci-Fi cafe boasts of action figures of different characters in movies and comics such as Iron Man, Captain America, Superman, Wolverine and Spiderman.
While waiting for their food to be served, guests can try on some costumes and have their photos taken inside the restaurant.
On "Umagang Kay Ganda," host Ariel Ureta tried Sci-Fi Cafe's Hellboyburger and played with the restaurant's Star Wars props.
