Dillingers also a great place to dine
MANILA -- Tucked in one of the corners of the third floor of Greenbelt 3 is Dillingers 1903 Steak and Brew. A popular hangout for yuppies and expatriates alike, with its gangster-inspired interiors and ambience, Dillinger’s more than a just a drinking place. As we found out, it’s also a great place to dine.
If you’re a fan of Bugsy’s wings then you’re in for a treat, as Dillingers offers Bugsy’s wings and tenders. Enjoy the same spicy, tangy sauce with the crispy wings, served with a bleu cheese dressing. It’s one of the bestsellers of Bugsy’s and Dillingers for a reason.
Serious drinking shouldn’t be a problem when paired with Animal Fries, which are topped with cheese, jalapenos, bacon, and ground beef. This goes well with a pint of beer, or a cocktail or two.
Sipping wine? Pair it with their gambas. Dillingers’ version of this dish features perfectly cooked garlicky shrimp that’s perfectly matched with your red wine.
If meat is more your thing, you can try the salpicao, eaten as an appetizer or with a cup (or two) of garlic rice, with each flavorful morsel tender and melting in your mouth.
Looking for soup? The Clam Chowder Soup was served in its traditional bread bowl. The chowder was creamy without being too heavy, with a nice lemony kick.
Main dishes and dessert
Burger lovers will be delighted with the assortment of burgers available at Dillingers. There are regular burgers and cheeseburgers, but the must try is the Western Bacon Cheeseburger with onion rings, and bacon, barbeque sauce -- a true cowboy’s delight!
There’s also an assortment of pastas that you can try, but the bestseller here is the truffle pasta, which is cream-based with a hint of truffle.
Other main dishes include the Loco Moco, a Hawaiian-style salisbury steak dish with an aloha-kicked pineapple gravy, topped with a sunny side egg. Those looking for a healthy alternative can try the Cajun grouper, two large pieces of fish cooked tender and flaky with a piquant mango salsa.
Now, if you want to give your friends something to talk about, or maybe you’re dining to impress an important client, then do yourself a favor and order the Tomahawk steak. Bone-in, perfectly cooked medium rare, with heavenly crispy and fatty bits, this giant of a steak needs no gravy or sauce. Accompanied by a truffle mac and cheese, the steak comes to your table in its full glory—a sight to behold, and a joy to eat.
Dessert was a chocolate lava cake served with ice cream. Dense and rich, drink it with coffee or even enjoy with your wine.
Cocktails and Prohibition
Unknown to some, Dillingers, true to its gangster façade, has a speak-easy at the back named Prohibition.
The bar is headed a Macau-trained bartender and customers can take their pick from exciting cocktails such as a-popcorn infused drink named playfully as Cinema Rocks, with caramel popcorn flavors melding with cola and rhum.
Or you can marvel that at their flaming bartending artistry with their coffee-infused cocktail called the Flaming Black Coffee. Coffee beans are thrown into a flaming Johnnie Walker Black, poured with Crème de Cacao, Drambuie, and Port wine. Impressive and just sexy smooth.
For the ladies, you can never go wrong with sangria, fruity and wonderfully balanced. Or if you’re looking something sweeter, the Little Princess with Ketel I, pineapple juice, lemon juice and sugar syrup will be sure to please.
You can also try one of its signature cocktails, the Dillinger Sour, that gives you tart flavours, not from citrus but from fruits such as raspberry and cherry. A wonderful refreshing drink to start or end the night.
Dillingers 1903 Steak and Brew is not only a one of the best places to unwind after office hours in Makati, but also a great place to wine and dine a client, a date, or enjoy a night out with friends.
