'Voice PH' artists dominate iTunes charts
MANILA – Contestants of “The Voice of the Philippines” dominated the Philippine charts of Apple’s iTunes store on Monday, just hours after it aired its fourth live show at Resorts World Manila on Sunday night, which saw four more contestants eliminated from the show.
Artists from the popular TV singing contest occupied the top 5 slots of the iTunes charts as of noon on Monday, led by Myk Perez’s rendition of Adele’s “Chasing Pavements,” at No. 1.
Ex-Kulay member Radha is at No. 2 with her take on Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time,” followed by music student Klarisse de Guzman’s well-praised version of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” at No. 3.
Meanwhile, two singles from the September 8 live show remain on the iTunes Top 5: Paolo Onesa’s take on the James Bond theme “Skyfall” is still strong at No. 4, followed by “Balita” by eliminated contestant Darryl Shy at No. 5.
Only two songs from foreign artists made the iTunes Philippines Top 10, led by Katy Perry’s “Roar” at No. 6, and Miley Cyrus’ controversial hit “Wrecking Ball” at No. 8.
Rounding out the Top 10 are more artists from “The Voice of the Philippines.” Team Bamboo’s Isabella Fabregas, who was eliminated on Sunday, bowed at No. 9 with her version of Alicia Key’s “No One,” while two holdovers from last week stayed on the charts. Morissette Amon’s powerful “What About Love” is at No. 7, while Thor Dulay’s soulful version of Stevie Wonder’s “Lately” is at No. 10.
