Men love new meat-flavored chocolate
MANILA - New Zealand chocolatier Dr. Hanna Frederick has recently developed a line of chocolate truffles infused with salty dried meat, Internet reports said.
The quirky confection, which is described to have a salami aftertaste, was reportedly a hit among men at the New Zealand's Meat Industry Association Conference held in Dunedin on September 14 to 15.
The venison chocolate truffles elicited less strong responses from women, Frederick said in an Australian Telegraph report, because "women tend to love chocolate more fruity, more feminine."
"There's this smoky taste to start, then a strong chocolate flavor comes in, and at the end you have this wonderful taste of salami. The meat and chocolate went together amazingly well," Ferederick said in an Associated Press report.
Frederick, owner of Mámor Chocolates Ltd, also announced her new line of deer velvet chocolate, with a distinct Chesnique Chestnut Liquer taste.
Deer velvet comes from deer antlers.
"Both chocolate and deer velvet have been claimed to have significant benefits, not least their reputed aphrodisiac qualities. So why not combine them in one wonderful package?" Frederick said in a statement on their company website.
Frederick, a Hungarian-trained food chemist, has often experimented with unique chocolate flavors.
Previously, she came up with a dark beer-flavored chocolate, orange peel-flavored chocolate, and Horopito (a New Zealand herb) flavored chocolate.
She calls this collection "couture chocolat." "New Zealand could just become the new Belgium by tapping into using the best cream in the world, and trendsetting in chocolate with Pacific flavors," she said in a statement. abs-cbnNEWS.com. Photo from Paul Bloomfield Consulting.
