Coming soon: Sticker store for Viber
MANILA – Riding on the popularity of the virtual stickers of competitors like Line, KakaoTalk and WeChat, Viber announced plans to introduce a sticker store for its messaging application.
This will be Viber’s first attempt to cash in on its messaging services, having so far offered free text messaging and calls to its users.
The company introduced free stickers as part of its services in 2012.
Similar to what its competitors have been doing, Viber will offer some stickers from other items from licensed brands and television programs.
Japan’s Line has been among the most successful in offering free and paid stickers, which are deemed far more original and fun than traditional emoticons.
South Korea’s KakaoTalk, meanwhile, is known for its animated stickers.
