Hackers deface DENR website
MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – The website of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) was hacked on Saturday, despite calls from Malacañang for a ceasefire.
The site’s homepage had the message, “Sorry Admin, Hacked!” and a symbol of a crescent moon and a star, both found on Turkey’s flag.
The site also had the words, “Turkish Hacker’s.” It is unclear if hackers from Turkey were indeed responsible for the attack.
The site, www.denr.gov.ph, was restored after a few minutes.
Palace spokeswoman Abigail Valte earlier appealed for a stop to the attacks, particularly on the websites and social media accounts Phivolcs, PAGASA, and Social Welfare service.
"We are aware of the opposition to the National Cybercrime Prevention Act. There are other ways to express opposition to it," she said in a radio interview.
