A glimpse of Megan's London trip
MANILA – Newly crowned Miss World 2013 Megan Young gave people across the globe a glimpse of her trip to London.
A video uploaded on the official YouTube page of Miss World showed Young visiting different tourist attractions in London such as the Big Ben, the Queen’s House, the Trafalgar Square and the London Eye.
“It’s my first time to be in London, and to be in Europe. It’s far away from home, but I’m starting to get used to it already,” said the 23-year-old television host and actress, who is the first Filipina to win the elusive Miss World title.
She added that she is planning to keep a personal journal where she will detail “everything that we do here in Miss World and my personal little journeys.”
While she is looking forward to seeing what London has to offer, Young said she is even more excited to go back home to be with her family, friends and fellow Filipinos.
“It’s been an amazing response from everyone and it’s so overwhelming, you know, because I get messages every day from people that are not only congratulating me, but they’re saying thank you for being an inspiration to them and for giving the country hope,” said Young, who is set to return to the Philippines later this week.
“I really can’t wait to go back home, to see everyone and to thank everyone. They all know who they are… They’re all part of my journey,” she added.
In the video, which ran for nearly eight minutes, Young shared that she has finally discovered what she wants to do with her life with the help of the Miss World pageant.
“I would always wonder, what is my purpose? What am I going to do in the future, with my life? Am I just going to be like this or is this my limit when it comes to things? And then, during that night for Miss World, that was it, that was the mark,” she said, recalling the coronation night last September 28.
“[I knew that] I could use my skills and that I could use my voice and my knowledge to get people in the know on what they could do to help out, not only with the org but with the people around them,” she added.
Young said she is looking forward to fulfilling her duties as Miss World, with the belief that she can touch many lives with her new title.
“I’ve made my mark now without even doing anything,” she said, referring to how her recent win has inspired people from across the globe. “So what more if I continue on with my journey? What more can I be?”
