A look at Carlo Aquino's food truck
MANILA – Aside from his showbiz projects, actor Carlo Aquino is also busy with his newest venture – a food truck business.
Together with his girlfriend of three years, Kristine Nieto, and three other partners, Aquino put up the Big Bite Avenue Food Truck, which serves burgers and poutine (a Canadian dish made with French fries topped with a gravy-like sauce and cheese curds).
Nieto said she and Aquino are very hands-on when it comes to their business.
“Five kami pero kaming dalawa lang talaga ‘yung tutok,” she said in an interview on “Kris TV” aired on Thursday.
According to Nieto, he and Aquino initially planned on putting up a diner, but they had a hard time finding an ideal location for their business.
Riding on the growing food truck trend, they decided to put up their own with the help of a friend.
“Before po dapat diner siya, then nahirapan kami maghanap ng mga locations. Tapos one time, ‘yung friend po namin, sabi niya may kilala siya na gumagawa ng food truck,” she said.
Nieto, Aquino and their partners shelled out an initial P2 million for the business, which includes buying and customizing the food truck, and getting kitchen equipment.
But so far, their business is doing well as it has become known for its great-tasting burgers. Some of their bestselling items include the Chorizo Longganisa Burger, a Filipino twist on the American favorite, and the Barbecue Burger.
