MANILA -- Thousands took to the streets and braved rains Friday afternoon to celebrate the historic win of Miss World 2013 Megan Young, whose homecoming parade toured parts of Makati City before culminating in Pasay.
The 23-year-old Kapamilya actress' motorcade, despite light rains, proved to be a spectacle with its accompanying brass band, vintage cars, motorcycle group and horses.
The parade started 2 p.m. at the corner of Buendia and Makati Avenue. From there, it made its way to Ayala Avenue and turned right to EDSA, moving towards the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
To accommodate the motorcade, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) implemented alternate routes for traffic.
Throughout the duration of the two-hour parade, Young was all smiles as she waved to cheering fans along the streets. She went on to greet thousands at the Pasay mall, where she expressed gratitude to her "kababayan" for supporting her in her Miss World bid.
