Umagang Kay Ganda: A visit to Sta. Elena Fun Farm
MANILA, Philippines - Forget Farmville. Experience the real simple joys of farm life just an hour away from Manila.
“Umagang Kay Ganda” visited the Sta. Elena Fun Farm, a piece of rural bliss in Cabuyao, Laguna where you can run around and play with farm animals and enjoy unique outdoor activities.
For only P175/head, children and adults alike can have the ultimate barnyard experience. Ride horses, cows, or even carabaos to tour around a portion of the area or visit the petting zoo where you can feed groups of baby rabbits and guinea pigs.
Racing over the rope and obstacle courses is also a great way to bond with family members and friends while in the farm.
If you’re the quiet type, you might find boating and fishing in the pond more to your liking. Just don’t mind the ducks quacking and waddling by.
For an extra sweet tour, drop by the honey house where apiculturists share the secrets of harvesting honey from the comb.
Of course, a farm is not quite complete without plants and crops. Sta. Elena boasts of being all-organic when it comes to its produce. Through vermiculture or worm composting, the farm was able to grow petchay, ampalaya, and other vegetables which they deliver to other parts of Laguna and Metro Manila.
So, if you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, close that Farmville window and start packing up for Sta. Elena, because even the Web’s most popular game is no match for the real thing.
Optional activities: Corn harvesting and roasting, natïve ball making, egg hunting, chicken chase, and archery. For booking, call (02) 6700-1314 or (02) 6700-1557 and look for Wilma Villoso.
