Rico Blanco, Rocksteddy to represent PH in Singapore fest
MANILA -- Former Rivermaya frontman Rico Blanco and rock band Rocksteddy will represent the Philippines in an Asian music festival to be held in Singapore next month.
Blanco and the band led by Teddy Corpuz will join several other performers from seven countries at the 5th Sundown Music Festival, which will be held on November 16 at the F1 Pit Building at Marina Promenade.
The Filipino performers will join acts from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Thaliand at the eight-hour event.
Bands Nidji and No More Tear, from Indonesia and Thailand, respectively, will offer alternative music.
Japan's Screw and D=OUT, meanwhile, will perform their unique take on glam-metal rock.
K-pop fans can look forward to a performance from Ace of Angels or AOA, which will gather its male and female members on the same stage for the event.
Representing China to the Sundown festival is Adonia Shao Yu Huan, with Taiwan sending boy wonder Yoga Lin and Cantopop star Bosco Wong.
Calling the fifth iteration of the music festival a "milestone," its director, Samantha Chan, said the goal in mounting the annual event remains the same.
"We have set a simple goal: to bring the burgeoning stars in Asian rock and pop music together for the best show in the region, a show that the world can only see in Singapore.
"And that is exactly what we have done; these acts we have brought in this year will rock your socks off [and] bring pride to being Asian," she said.
