MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) - On her latest album cover, pop star Lady Gaga sported a black rubber top and shorts designed by Filipino designer Kermit Tesoro.

Tesoro's rubber armor can now be seen on the cover of Lady Gaga's single "Marry the Night," which the American singer released on Twitter on Tuesday.

The outfit first made an appearance in the 2010 Holiday show of the Philippine Fashion Week, where Tesoro collaborated with sculptor Leeroy New.

Several Filipinos turned to the Internet to express their pride for Tesoro.

"OH. MY. GOD. Eto na ang pinakamatagal naming hinihintay!!! PINOY PRIDE!!! LADY GAGA IN KERMIT TESORO BODY ARMOR!" said socialite and businesswoman Divine Lee on Tumblr.

"wow!! super pinoy pride!!" said television host Bianca Gonzalez on Twitter.

"Congrats! Kayo na!!!" said stylist Jenni Epperson on Twitter.

"Kermit Tesoro + Lady Gaga: Pinoy Designer Kermit Tesoro dresses up Lady Gaga for her "MARRY THE NIGHT" single cover," said designer Louis Claparols on Twitter.

Tesoro, who is known for his avant-garde creations, said he is grateful that Filipino designers are starting to be recognized internationally.

"I feel grateful that we Filipinos are recognized," he told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

He stressed, however, that Lady Gaga's outfit is "a product of two minds working together."

"That particular piece is a product of my collaboration with sculptor Leeroy New from our PFW holiday 2010 collection. And the House of Gaga modified it according to the video's artistic direction," he said.

"I have to really point that the particular piece is also a product... with Leeroy New. Please do credit him as well."
