MANILA, Philippines -- Popular Korean group Big Bang's first concert in the Philippines drew thousands of fans, who screamed their lungs out and lit up the SM Mall of Asia Arena with glowsticks on Wednesday night.

Despite the pricey tickets, ranging from P15,000 to P1,000, the Arena was filled with young fans excited for the rare chance to see their Korean idols.

With cool video and light effects, the five members of Big Bang appeared on stage in individual futuristic capsules. Fireworks lit up the stage, as they performed "Alive," followed by "Tonight," "Hands Up" and "Fantastic Baby." For "How Gee," Taeyang came out on a bicycle, while TOP and G-Dragon rode Segways as they went around the stage.

"Philippines, Manila, I love this place... This is so incredible. I love this country," Seungri told the crowd.

Taeyang played it flirty, telling the crowd, "Manila ladies are so hot."

G-Dragon and TOP returned to the stage to perform two songs, including their hit "High High."

Other Big Bang members performed solo numbers. Seungri, whose classic good looks may be perfect for a Korean drama, sang "Strong Baby" and "What Can I Do." Taeyang showed off his slick dance moves on his solo numbers "Look at Me" and "Wedding Dress." Fans squealed when he ripped off his shirt to reveal his toned body. At the same time, Daesung impressed fans with his strong vocals on "Wings."

Fashion style

Big Bang, known for their cool fashion style, had several costume changes, ranging from military-style outfits to more casual skinny pants and T-shirts.

The pop group had the crowd on its feet with dance tracks "Gara! Gara! Go!," and "Number 1," but took things down a notch with "Cafe," "Bad Boy" and "Blue." Even though the lyrics were in Korean, fans sang along with the group.

Big Bang members looked extremely excited, running around the stage to wave and smile at fans while performing "Haru Haru," and their hit song "Lies."

"We had a fantastic time. You guys are awesome. We love you from the bottom of our hearts," Taeyang said.

"Please don't forget tonight. I promise you, we will come back again because I love this country, Manila, baby," Seungri said.

"You're the best," G-Dragon added.

The group exited the stage after nearly two hours, but came back for an encore where they performed several more songs.

Big Bang members looked more playful during the encore, spraying the fans with water, jumping around and taking photos of themselves. TOP even hammed it up, wearing a pink headband thrown by one of the fans on stage.

Sandara in the house

When it was time to finally end the concert, Big Bang members showed that they learned a few Tagalog phrases from their fellow YG Entertainment artist Dara of 2NE1, known to Filipinos as Sandara Park.

"Paalam... Mahal ko kayo (Goodbye... I love you)," G-Dragon said, using the phrase Park became known for when she was on "Star Circle Quest."

Daesung was also seen doing the "Sandara wave," much to the delight of Filipino fans.

Park was spotted at the concert, wearing a beanie and sitting next to her manager, but did not appear on stage. Fans, who saw the former Kapamilya star, said she mostly kept her eyes glued to the stage.

But Park later tweeted several pictures of the concert, saying she was impressed by the crowd singing along with Big Bang in Korean.

She also said how she wished her group 2NE1 would also be invited to hold a concert in Manila.

"Namiss ko talaga ang sigawan ng Phil!!! Na-excite talaga ako kahit hindi ako nag-perform! Nag-enjoy talaga ako ngayon," she said on Twitter.
