MANILA, Philippines – The prices of flowers in Baguio City continue to go up ahead of the long All Saints Day holiday weekend.
Malaysian mums, for instance, are already selling for P120 per dozen from the usual P80, while crysanthemums, which normally sell for P150 per bundle, are now fetching P200 up to P300.
Roses are now selling for P300 for a dozen from only P120. Anthuriums, meanwhile, are now sold at P200 per dozen from their original price of only P80.
Vendors warned that prices may even go up in the next few days because of the expected big demand for flowers during the All Saints Day period.
Most of the flowers in Baguio will be brought to Dangwa in Manila this week, the vendors added.
Meanwhile, flower growers in La Trinidad, Benguet are worried over the shipments of flowers from China.
They said these imported flowers will certainly have a better quality because some flowers grown in the Northern Luzon provinces were affected by recent weather disturbances. – from a report by Maira Wallis, ABS-CBN News Northern Luzon
