How to vote for Ariella Arida in Miss Universe
MANILA -- The Philippines' candidate to Miss Universe, Ariella Arida, can land a spot in the pageant's semifinals if she wins its fan vote competition, which will run until November 8.
The international pageant's official online poll for its 86 contenders opened Monday (Manila time) on the Miss Universe website, and will close a day before the coronation night at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.
As in previous editions of the fan vote competition, the winner will automatically be included in the semifinals. This is regardless of whether she is already part of it based on other criteria.
Fans of Arida can vote for her on the contestants page of the Miss Universe website and of Telemundo, the pageant's media partner.
Voters must be at least 16 years old, and will have to provide an e-mail address in the poll window. A verification code must also be filled out.
The poll process includes picking a particular country represented by a candidate, and voting from a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest.
According to the voting rules, Miss Universe will "take the average of the total votes from the IP addresses originating from each country, and each country vote will count as 1."
Fans will be limited to voting 100 times per e-mail address per day.
Leading up to the finals night of the 62nd Miss Universe, Arida was handpicked to join several pre-pageant activities, including a photo shoot for the luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz, and a fashion show featuring creations by Lebanese designer Tony Ward.
Arida is hoping to surpass the successes of her last three predecessors in Miss Universe – Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup and Janine Tugonon – who all finished in the international pageant's Top 5.
