Power cuts force Negros Occ gov to put up Xmas tree sans lights
No Christmas lights, please.
The governor of Negros Occidental has called on his constituents to lessen, if not do away with entirely, the use of Christmas lights.
The call is in line with Isidro Zayco’s efforts to save energy given the current power shortage in the province.
Zayco said the giant Christmas tree at the capitol lagoon will be decorated without Christmas lights. The governor said he will also urge other local officials to do away with the traditional “light-a-tree” program this December.
He pointed out that Negrenses should be conscious of their power consumption especially this Christmas season.
The Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. has already implemented load shedding to prevent and cushion the effect of an overloaded system. This means, from an hour to two, residents from different parts of the city would experience power outage.
