SAP Movement's short film tilt for high school students
MANILA, Philippines – In response to the government’s call for youth in nation building, the Sectoral Anti-Poverty (SAP) Movement Philippines, Inc. is conducting the annual Students’ Independent (SINDI) Film Annual Awards.
The competition aims to “provide an avenue for our high school students to nurture their creativity and share their views, while introducing the possibility of cinema as a tool for empowerment.”
The program also aims to “inspire a generation of filmmakers who will, one day, create films that will revitalize the social and cultural fabric of our society.”
The SINDI Film Annual Awards will have four different levels of competition--school district level, division of city or provincial school level, regional level, and the national or grand finals level.
The film can be an entry in the following genres: short fiction, documentary short subject, animation, and experimental.
Interested students must submit their films with a maximum running time of 15 minutes and with no copyrighted music in DVD format to their schools along with the completed entry forms.
Each school district will then choose a winner for each genre, which will represent it in the division of city or provincial-school level.
Winners in the division of city or provincial school level will then be qualified for the regional level competition.
Regional level winners will, in turn, be entries in the national level contest. Each region will have four finalists covering each genre.
The deadline of submission of film entries is on December 31.
The formal announcement of the 60 national finalists will be made in January 2012.
The winners will be selected on April 22, 2012.
SAP Movement Philippines, Inc. is holding the SINDI Film Annual Awards in partnership with with Department of Education, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, UP Film Institute, National Youth Commission, YES Pinoy Foundation, Innovative Management and Communications Network, TATS Entertainment Production, and Filipino Movie-workers Inc.
