TANAUAN -- For a brief moment in Tanauan, Leyte on Friday, typhoon survivors were in awe of a beauty queen.

For a few minutes, they forgot about their tragic experiences. Instead, they were busy giving flying kisses to Miss World 2013 Megan Young.

They gave her letters and drawings. The children's laughter filled the church that once served as their evacuation center.

“I guess, kasi, nafi-feel nila ‘yung love, kasi iyon ‘yung gusto natin ipakita sa kanila – that we care for them, that we’re helping them as a family,” Young said.

But not everyone was excited about Young's visit. Some, like Ricarda Riconia, were more interested in the distribution of relief goods.

But even she could not resist smiling back when the beauty queen waved at her.

Meanwhile, Leyte will have another special visitor on Saturday -- People's Champ and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao won't be giving any cash donations for now, with his bank accounts garnished over a tax collection case.

But he hopes the relief packs he has prepared will be a big help to typhoon survivors in Tacloban.

For many of the survivors, more than the relief packs, the visit of their idols is already a relief -- one that can uplift spirits.
